Sky Tracker
This is an open source sky tracker derived from openastrotech.com It’s 3D-printed DSLR tracking mount that combines lightweight construction with precise motion control. The mount uses a modular ring system tailored to my latitude, along with a pulley-and-belt driven right-ascension axis supported by bearings for smooth rotation. Stepper motors controlled by an Arduino drive the tracking and some GoTo functions, while printed motor mounts and tensioned belts ensure accurate, backlash-“free” motion.
The design also includes interchangeable lens adapters for different camera setups, a compact footprint for portability, and support for add-ons like autoguiding and automatic polar alignment. By using strong printed parts with optimized infill and reinforced sections, the tracker balances low cost, customizability, and structural rigidity, making it possible to capture long-exposure astrophotography with just a DSLR.
